Why SwarmFest
I'm Nick Goodyear. I started SwarmFest in Tampa in 2015 to give Tampa the type of fest I would like to go to.
Death, black, thrash and doom, all under one roof at the Brass Mug. As it grows, SwarmFest could be an unstoppable force.
I started playing drums at 16 and have played in various bands since.
Sabrina Goodyear
My wife Sabrina helps with a lot of it. She runs merch through our company, Precision Merch, helps pick the bands, and handles plenty of other jobs along the way.
Bands I've played in
-
Eviscerator
Drums · 2000–2001
My first real metal band. I played drums in Eviscerator before and during the early days of Promethean Horde.
-
Promethean Horde
Vocals
We released the Bring Forth the Fires EP in 2009 and the full-length Ashes of the Empyrean in 2014. We played our first show at the Brass Mug in July 2009, opened for Moonspell and Samael in Tampa that October, and have played SwarmFest in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2024. I record the band at Metal Swarm Studios.
-
Paths of Possession
Drums · 2004–present
Formed in Tampa in 1999. I play drums on Promises in Blood (2005) and The End of the Hour (2007), both produced by Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios, with George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher on vocals. We're still active, and new material is in the works.
-
Dark Faith
Drums · 2005–2009
A Tampa death metal band that ran from 1997 to 2012 and was last signed to Deathgasm Records. I started playing live with them before I recorded anything, and I drummed on the Desecrated Silence EP (2009).
-
From Blood and Burning
Drums · from 2007
We formed in 2007, recorded Demo 07 at Death n Decay Studios, and signed with Blind Prophecy Records that October. We went on to record a full album, but the label went defunct before it came out. We still have the master recording, so it can still be released. The band is now defunct.
-
Imperial Conquest
Drums and backing vocals · 2013–2016
The band has gone by this name since 1999. I recorded and produced Hammerûn: Monarch of Serpents (2013) at Metal Swarm Studios, though I don't play drums on it. They're on the SwarmFest 2026 bill.
-
Lethal Prayer
Vocals
Formed in Pittsburgh in 1986 and now based in Tampa. I was already singing with them when they played SwarmFest 2024, and I sing on Sacrilege Infernus (2025), their first album in nearly 30 years.
Metal Swarm
Metal Swarm Studios is what I call my home studio. These days I only record Promethean Horde there.
Metal Swarm is also coming back in a new form, as a community record label. More on that soon.
